Everyday tasks for SolidWorks designers using GitM. If this is your first time, start with Getting started.
Sign in and set up¶
- Sign in to GitM — connect to your team repository the first time.
The core loop¶
- Check out a part
- Check in a part — publish one file (no snapshot).
- Save a local version — the Save Local Version checkpoint.
- Publish a snapshot — snapshot the whole repository as a milestone.
- Get the latest files
- Release a lock
- Work offline — keep editing with no connection; cloud actions pause.
Working with files¶
- Make a file available on this PC — placeholders.
- Add a standard part to the library — copy reference parts into
Library/. - Filter the task pane — search, extension filters, list/tree, Doc toggle.
- Open an earlier version — the Snapshots tab and per-file Versions.
- Work with branches
- Generate a BOM
- Share files with a supplier — supplier exchange links (Manager/Admin).
